Teaming up to Pack in the Holiday Cheer
Dearborn, MI (December 15, 2017) – LAHC- Leaders Advancing & Helping Communities has teamed up with Midwest Recycling & Hacham Consulting for three holiday events. The group is hosting a party at a homeless shelter, and giving out gifts to unexpected families in Dearborn and Detroit for the Annual Santa on Patrol.
“LAHC is honored to partner with Midwest Recycling, Hacham Consulting and both the Dearborn and Detroit Police Departments on bringing joy and holiday cheer. This is about telling these young children they are not forgotten. “Stated Wassim Mahfouz, Senior Executive Director of LAHC. “More importantly, it is a testament that our humanity always unites us as we come together to serve, love one another and remember those who need us the most, the children.” Finished Mahfouz.
“We believe it is important not just to give back but to collaborate with others to do so,” said Abe Hachem, president and CEO of Midwest Recycling. “We really appreciate the local police departments for teaming up with us and helping us make this holiday season joyous for those families in need.”
Both Detroit and Dearborn Police Departments are participating in Santa on Patrol.
“It is always fun to recognize good drivers during the holiday season,” said Chief Ronald Haddad. “Their reaction is PRICELESS!”
Monday, December 18, the group is hosting its 5th Holiday Dinner at Samaritas Family Center in Westland located 30600 Michigan Avenue. The event takes place at 5 p.m. and will include about 150 people. Food is graciously donated by Byblos Banquet in Dearborn. Santa Claus will be present to distribute gifts to families. Other fun activities include face painting, arts and crafts and much more. Samaritas offers emergency shelter for homeless families.
Tuesday, December 19, the group will be riding along with the Dearborn Police Department for the Second Annual Santa on Patrol. Starting at 10 a.m. and lasting about 2 hours, the team will be randomly stopping unexpected families in East Dearborn near the Detroit Border and handing out holiday gifts, which include toys, backpacks and clothing items.
Friday, December 22, the group will be riding along with Detroit Police Department for their First Santa on Patrol event. Starting at 2 p.m. for a period of time, the team will be randomly stopping unexpected families and handing out holiday gifts, which includes toys, backpacks and clothing items. They will be patrolling the 3rd precinct area. There is a plan to host a small event afterward at 4:00 p.m. at the Detroit PD 3rd Precinct located at 2875 W. Grand Blvd, Detroit. Families attending this event will be handed out vouchers one week in advance to come and receive their gifts.
