Dinner, Dance, Fun & Cause – A Night In A Sea of Blue…
Appetizers and drinks, orchestra and mingling welcomed the guests on March 10th to the 2nd Annual Blue Tie Benefit Gala. Boasting a banquet hall full of ‘who’s who’s’ at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel, Detroit’s beloved “Ask Dr. Nandi Charities” hosted 180 attendees, raising nearly $100,000 through donations, auction, and the entertaining exhibition and sale of 3 paintings created on the spot by Detroit Speed Artist, Dave Santia http://www.davesantia.com Dinner was divine, and the evening ended on an up note with Jason George of United Productions enticing attendees to wave their ribbons and shake things up on the dance floor.
Dr. Partha Nandi, cherished host of the internationally syndicated medical lifestyle television show, Ask Dr. Nandi, filmed here in Metro Detroit is also known locally as the Chief Health Editor and Health Hero at WXYZ ABC Detroit. His busy schedule includes speaking worldwide, and partnering with the World Health Organization, traveling tirelessly as a health advocate and partner with the Ministry of Health. He amazingly continues a medical practice here in Oakland County and through Beaumont Hospital, but still finds time to share the dance floor and joys of life with his phenomenal wife and mother of his two children, Kali, who guides and structures the brand and teams of the growing Nandi legacy.
Nandi, a Gastroenterologist, decided to hold the annual event to honor the life of his friend Fred Lewis’s mother, who was diagnosed late in life with the disease. Nandi and Lewis shared the touching story at the podium and vowed to continue to expand awareness and raise money along with the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. On hand were Lewis and his family, including his wife, Detroit’s legendary broadcast personality Diana Lewis and their Emmy nominated daughter Glenda who continues to shine on air as co-anchor of The NOW at 4pm on Channel 7 and 7 Action News at 10 pm on TV20 Detroit.
Adding their own inspirational flavor and stories were speakers Mitali Kapila, MS, RD, DLT – Registered Dietitian and founder of Vitality Nutrition, LLC, Jordan Winn of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, and Colon Cancer Survivor, Doreen Defauw.
At the current rate, one in twenty-four women and one in twenty-two men in the nation will find themselves with colon cancer. This is a harsh number for such a curable and treatable disease.

Why Superfoods? Let’s get real here. When was the last time you felt really well? For many of the patients I see in my practice, feeling great can seem beyond their reach. They try supplements or indulge in caffeine or, often, end up on medication … and diet to the point of frustration and disappointment.
There are so many answers all around us that are truly wonderful. Nature had it all figured out – everything you need for super lives – lives without copays and medication. What are these natural wonder food solutions? Superfoods.
Superfoods are, by nature, much richer in nutrients and antioxidants than other foods and they nourish your body with less bulk and fewer calories. They often have more nutritional punch per ounce and calorie than almost all other foods and provide both immediate and long-term energy increases.
