Please join the Sierra Club for a town hall meeting on Thursday, Jan. 25 on important environmental issues facing Michigan communities and how we can protect our great state. The town hall will feature a panel of state legislators and community activists discussing how policies on clean energy, water infrastructure and contamination, and lead and copper safeguards are affecting all of us in Michigan. The event is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 25 at the Birmingham Unitarian Church, 38651 Woodward Ave, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304, and is hosted by Michigan Made Great in collaboration with Clean Water Action and Sierra Club.
Last Friday, Sierra Club members joined with Flint community members and organizations in the REBUILD Flint March and Rally in Flint. The march was in response to the man-made Flint water quality disaster and was headlined by: Rev. Jesse Jackson, president and founder Rainbow PUSH Coalition; Judge Greg Mathis;Rev. Alfred Harris, president, and Rev. Allen Overton, spokesperson of the Concerned Pastors for Social Action; Phaedra Parks of the “Atlanta Housewives;” and special guests as they led a march to the Flint Water Plant from the Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle.
