On June 8, 2011, Warm Training Center will celebrate 30 years of promoting sustainable, affordable communities in Southeast Michigan at its Third Annual Breakfast and 30th Anniversary Celebration.
The breakfast will feature an entertaining presentation from nationally recognized green building expert Steve Thomas, the host of Renovation Nation on the Plant Green channel. Following Steve, War will present Community Energy Champion Awards to local leaders and organizations who promote energy efficiency and sustainability in Southeast Michigan.
For the last two years WARM has brought nationally recognized leaders to its breakfast to share their green building experience with over 200 sustainability enthusiast from around Detroit. WARM has also recognized the hard work of many Southeast Michigan’s leaders with its Community Energy Champion Awards.
Last year’s Champions were Paula Cathcart and Gloria Riveria, Sisters from Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM), John Sarver, former Supervisor of Technical Assistance for the Burea of Energy Systems with the Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth (DELEG), Habitat for Humanity of Michigan, and GunnLevine Architects. The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) is a table sponsor for the 2011 breakfast.
WARM Training Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and 2010 Michigan Green Leader. Established in 1981 and located on Michigan Avenue in Detroit, WARM promotes the development of resource efficient, affordable, healthy homes and communities through education, training and technical assistance. WARM’s services include residential energy education, green jobs training, and technical assistance for businesses and municipalities.
