NextEnergy announced that Steven E. Kurmas has joined NextEnergy’s Board of Directors.
“Steve’s background in power generation, fuel supply, and electric distribution makes him a very valuable addition to our board,” says NextEnergy Chairman Chris Rizik. He adds, “This is all themore true as NextEnergy evolves into the alternative energy innovation hub for Detroit and the State of Michigan.”
Kurmas is President and Chief Operating Officer of Detroit Edison, which is one of three major business units of DTE Energy, a Detroit based diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy related businesses and services nationwide. Prior to this, Kurmas, who is a licenced chemical engineer, served as Exectutive Vice President of Fossil Generation at Detroit Edison, where he was responsible for the operation of the company’s fossil fueled electric power plants. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company (MichCon), which merged with DTE Energy in 2001.
