Solartonic Street Light
Solartonic LED lamp head with a sensor and wrap around Photo Voltaic solar cells
In addition to our guest speakers and exhibitors, a highlight of the event will be the commissioning of a new ‘Solartonic’ streetlight on the Parker Village campus. This new ‘Solartonic’ solar street light is an example of community-centered sustainability using the latest technology to provide publicly available Wi-Fi internet service in addition to lighting the campus. The light was manufactured by Solartonic, a Michigan solar lighting company from Ann Arbor.
Every once in a while, a truly unique solution to an everyday problem percolates to the top. Solar powered municipal lights have taken a giant step forward with innovation in the design of lighting and security for pathways, bike lanes, street lights, parking lot lights, parks, and main roadways. Solartonic’s unique vertically mounted, wrap-around, lamp pole with integrated solar panel system can supplement electrical power through an innovative grid-tied network or provide off-grid power through battery storage on site. Solartonic’s proprietary solar modules, electrical design, and mounting mechanisms provide a sophisticated renewable energy resource appropriate to an urban context.
The solarap™ panels accommodate varying pole orientations that optimally absorb all available direct and diffuse sunlight, to provide consistent power throughout all the seasons
Another event feature will be the first meeting of Metro Detroit Chapter of the Michigan Solar Users Network. The Michigan Solar Users Network (MiSUN) is an organization of solar owners to share information regarding their experience to educate and expand solar to other homeowners and businesses.
